Job Details:
High School Diploma or Equivalent, Associates Degree Preferred. Working knowledge of ICD-9, CPT (Current Procedural Technology) and HCPCS coding (Healthcare Common Procedural Coding System. Medical Terminology and/or Anatomy & Physiology. Minimum of 3 years of work experience in a physicians practice, insurance carrier or health care organization with exposure clinical information (e.g. basic, ICD-9-CM, CPT4, HCPCS coding, computerized encoder, and/or electronic health records) is required.
Coding certification or currently enrolled in a coding certification course. Certification is required within 2 years of hire into the apprentice coder position.
Candidate must hold or be working toward one of the following certifications: American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) - RHIT, CCA, CCS, CCS-P
American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) - CPC-A CPC, CPC-HEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
